ALANDIA Gin: Six Ravens London Dry Gin

Gin and ALANDIA? It’s not green and it is not Absinthe? That’s right, but out of a daily life problem, a new product has evolved! Absinthe, as you might have experienced as well, is unfortunately not available in every bar. Therefore, you have to have some substitutes in mind when you are out for a drink. In our case, the substitute is Gin & Tonic, a historical drink with style and slightly bitter, herbal taste. As Gin is a distilled spirit made out of various herbs and spices, similar to Absinthe, we had the idea of creating our own Gin, the first ALANDIA Gin.

Gin by ALANDIA Spirits: Six Ravens

It took us over a year and many prototypes to finalize the recipe, but now the product is bottled and available for sale: Six Ravens London Dry Gin! Six Ravens is distilled with fresh ginger, this gives the ALANDIA Gin a fruity, slightly spicy taste. No added sweetening, nor colorants, nor any other ingredients (other than water) are added to the distillate. Six Ravens Gin has an increased alcohol percentage of 46% to preserve its full-bodied flavor profile, even when mixed with your favorite tonic water. It is the perfect Gin for a premium Gin Tonic (and that was what we were aiming for ;-)). We really would be happy when you give our Gin a try. We would be so happy, that we add this month to every bottle one exclusive Gin Tonic Glass for free! The perfect glass for a perfect Gin.

The history of Gin:

Gin is a distilled spirit which derives its predominant flavor from juniper berries. The Dutch doctor François de la Boe is credited with the invention of this famous spirit. He distilled juniper berries as a herbal medicine and called it genever, the Dutch word for juniper berries. English soldiers, who were fighting with the Dutch against the Spanish in the Eighty Years’ War, brought the drink to Britain and called it “Gin”. The spirit became highly popular and was also heavily consumed in tropical British colonies. Gin was used to mask the bitter flavor of quinine, which was the only effective anti-malarial compound during this time. Quinine was dissolved in carbonated water to form tonic water; the resulting mix became the origin of today’s famous Gin & Tonic combination!
